Lai’el Alani Jackson, of Pamplin, was the first baby born in the new year at Centra Southside Community Hospital in Farmville. According to hospital spokeswoman Kerry Mossler, Jackson was born at 6:02 p.m. Sunday at 7 pounds and 19 inches long. Her mother is Tiona Eames and her father is Shawn Jackson.
