Harry Frank Davis

Harry Frank Davis, 68, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 23, 2017. He was the son of the late Marry Wood and Edward Frank Davis of Pamplin.

Harry enthusiastically served his country during Vietnam as a member of the U.S. Air Force. He was a distinguished gentleman who enjoyed his career at Morgan Stanley. Upon his retirement he devoted much of his time to philanthropic endeavors. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Roanoke. Harry served on a number of boards for local non- profits as well as the school board in Roanoke.

He had a passion for many things including art, fine foods, antique cars, and his beloved pets. More than anything he adored his two granddaughters.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Venanzi and her husband, Kevin of Pottstown, PA; one brother, Danny Smith and his wife, Brenda of Louisiana; and his two granddaughters, Emma and Claire. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Charles Staples and Roy Staples.

Family burial was held Thursday, January 26 at Pamplin Cemetery with the Rev. Joy Sylvester-Johnson officiating.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Roanoke, on Wednesday, February 8 at 11 a.m.
