There’s a small group of hard-working people in Prince Edward County who deserve credit for what they do for the community. The staff of the Virginia Cooperative Extension in Prince Edward County strives to help educate and consult the community on a plethora of issues that affect their, health, finances and overall quality of life. Through the community outreach, course offerings and commitment these folks have, they are truly an asset to the county and its residents. One of the priorities of the Extension office has been nutrition. “We have a unique opportunity in our office, specifically due to our backgrounds and focus in horticulture, local food systems, and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program education, to gear our plan of work toward addressing food insecurities through an interdisciplinary approach,” an extension spokeswoman said. We commend the Extension for its dedication to bettering our community. Pictured are, from left, Extension employees Pauline Stokes, Katy Overby, Shelda Daniels and Caitlin Miller.
