Career talk held at BCHS

December was Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security Careers Month at Buckingham County High School. As part of the school’s monthly career speaker program, managed by the school Career Coach Tina Maxey, Capt. William Ross, of the Buckingham Correctional Center, spoke to a group of students about his profession. Ross, who has been employed by the Department of Corrections for 27 years, spoke about the job qualifications for his position as well as career opportunities offered through the Virginia Department of Corrections. He shared information on the various benefits, such as insurance, vacation, retirement and advancement opportunities. A graduate of the high school, Ross also shared tips on how to prepare for a job interview as well as the “Model The Way” leadership principles that his employer uses for its employees.
