Sarah Elizabeth Brown Calkins, 60, of Petersburg, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 18, 2016. She was born in Lynchburg, but spent her youth in Appomattox. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Berkley Brown and Kathleen Smith Brown; sister, Jean Ogg; and niece, Kathleen “Kitty” Fudula.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Christopher Calkins; along with numerous friends and loved ones.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 22 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27 at Hollywood Baptist Church, 6564 Hollywood Road, Appomattox, VA 24522. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
