Remembering the elderly at Christmas

Published 1:42 pm Thursday, December 22, 2016

For more than five weeks, members of benevolent organizations, churches and volunteers across the Heart of Virginia have brought the light of Christmas to an often-forgotten about population: the elderly, sick and shut-ins. A testament to this are the activities, including candy, carols and other gifts, that go on at nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the region. The youth of New Hope Baptist Church, near Arvonia, recently sang Christmas favorites to residents at the Heritage Hall Nursing Facility in Dillwyn. We commend not only these young people, but the caring folks in our communities, for remembering those less fortunate.
