Frances Marion Simanske

Frances Marion Simanske, 96, of Farmville, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016. She was born in Buckingham on August 5, 1920. She graduated from Buckingham Central High School. Frances was married to Thomas C. Yancey (predeceased) with whom she had two daughters, Barbara and Katherine. Her second husband, Henry Simanske, was also predeceased.
Frances worked as a lead sales woman at Sears and Roebuck until retirement. Afterwards, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, and entertaining family and guests. She was actively involved in Cumberland Presbyterian Church and earlier in Farmville Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Katherine Y. De Lorraine of Roanoke and Barbara Y. Anderson of Farmville; her grandson, Rodney Thomas Stuart of Farmville; a sister, Lorene Brown of Appomattox, as well as other family and friends. In addition to the aforementioned, Frances is preceded in death by her mother, Annie Southall Wilkerson, her father, Floyd Wilkerson, her sister, Mable Phaup and her brothers, Herbert Wilkerson and Billy Wilkerson.
The family extends a special thank you to her caregiver of ten years, Judie Williams.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Heart Association.
The funeral service will be held at Puckett Funeral Home on Friday, December 30 at 3:30 pm. with interment to follow in Westview Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday from 2 until 3:30pm at the funeral home.
