Food bank thanks helpers

Cumberland County Community Food Bank recipients and volunteers would like to take this opportunity to publicly express their sincere thanks to the following people for making the 2016 food distributions a tremendous success: directors Jerry and Doris Seal, Cumberland County administration, the board of supervisors, Central Virginia Food Bank FeedMore of Richmond, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and all news media including radio and newspapers. A very special thank you for the county for the use of the old Cumberland County Elementary School. To all, a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2017 in the Lord.
Belated Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to our dear friend in Christ, Mary Martin, of the Woodlands, of Farmville. She was 104 years young on Wednesday.

Victory Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Worley, 157 Dove Lane, in Spout Springs, will host special services on Christmas Eve, Saturday, from 5-6 p.m. Also on Christmas Day, there will be morning worship at 11 a.m. Pastor Jeff Worley and the entire congregation cordially invite all to attend. Hello this week to our good friends, Charles and Margaret Yates, of Dillwyn.
Buckingham United Methodist Charge, consisting of Browns, Hanes and Rocky Mount, will host special services for Christmas at Browns UMC, off U.S. 15 north of Dillwyn on State Route 617 (Gravel Hill Road). The Christmas Eve service will be held at 4 p.m. The Christmas Day service will be held with Sunday school beginning at 10 a.m., followed by morning worship at 11:15 a.m.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are sick and shut in Dillwyn and surrounding counties.
