The Revs. Dr. George A. Bates and Dr. Maurice Carter, who is pastor of Crystal Cathedral Church in Dillwyn, have established a MyEvent account for people who wish to donate cash to the Princeville, N.C. Hurricane Matthew Flood Relief Victims fund. The entire town of Princeville was engulfed by the flood which destroyed all 700 plus homes.

Those who wish to donate can do so by going to myevent.com/princevilleagape16 to make a donation online. Donations can also be dropped off at First Bank in Dillwyn or Farmville and donate cash to Acct. No. 0934503152. Print your name and address on the receipt, make a copy of your receipt and send the copy to Rev. Dr. George A. Bates, P.O. Box 793, Dillwyn, VA 23936 so a record can be kept of the tax-deductible contribution.

Also, beginning at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, there will be a Penske rental truck parked at Crystal Cathedral Church for donations of new items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, shampoo, hair brushes, soap, shampoo, dental floss and picks, Depends/Pull-Ups sizes from small to 2X large, finger and toe nail clippers, cosmetics, perfumes, etc.

Princeville victims do not need any more clothing, Bates and Carter said.

However, new shaving kits, hair-grooming kits with clippers along with new shoes from slippers to tennis shoes to dress shoes to snow boots of all sizes are needed.

The truck will be manned Jan. 19 and 20 from 3-7 p.m. and Jan. 21 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The following week, Jan. 26 and 27, the truck will be there for the same donation hours and again Jan. 28 from 7-10 a.m. The truck will then depart at 10 a.m. and head for Princeville.
