All-state, top-10 Big South player

Longwood University sophomore defender Sydney Wallace was recently named to the 2016 Virginia Sports Information Directors Women’s All-State University Division second team after leading a backfield that allowed just 0.88 goals per game, the best average in the Big South. Leading the Lancers in minutes, with 1,861, and tying for the team-lead in goals scored, with four, Wallace was also selected as a top-10 Big South player, according to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Postseason Conference Player Rankings. Wallace made the list at No. 9, with her teammate, senior midfielder Amanda Spencer, named at No. 8. She also scored four goals.
