Roy Wilson Hill, Jr.

Roy Wilson Hill Jr., 78 of Dillwyn, passed away on September 23, 2016. He was born in Indiana on October 16, 1937 to the late Roy W. Hill Sr and Nettie Stinson Hill. He was a graduate of Buckingham High School and various technical and mechanical institutions.

He had served as Director of Physical Plant for Longwood College and Building Inspector for the Town of Farmville.  Roy was a retired contractor for R.W. Hill and Sons, Inc.  He was a member of New Store Presbyterian Church where he was very active. He served numerous times as an elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, and continual servant for the church. Roy had a great love of electronics and television, car racing, sports and gardening.  He was a great wood worker and could “build or fix anything”. He completed two projects renovating Thomas Jefferson’s original architectural works at Buckingham County and Cumberland County courthouses.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roger D. Hill.

He is survived by his wife, Rita S. Hill; a son, Lyndon Wilson Hill (Denise) of Curdsville; a daughter, Dana H. Osborn (Vince) of Farmville; a brother, James R. Hill (Margaret) of Manakin-Sabot; a sister-in-law, Marie K. Hill; and four grandchildren, Trevor Hill, Clay Osborn, Drew Osborn and Matt Osborn.

A funeral service was on Tuesday, September 27 at New Store Presbyterian Church with interment in the church cemetery.
