The Heart of Virginia Master Gardeners and the Prince Edward Virginia Cooperative Extension will hold the next program of its Lunch and Learn series on Thursday, Oct. 6 at noon. The guest speaker will be Associate Extension Agent Katy Overby, who will present the many different ways people can arrange grocery store-bought flowers to be most appealing.
Overby is originally from Lunenburg County, and is currently a part of the agriculture and natural resources extension agents under the position of associate extension agent. She graduated from Virginia Tech in 2008 with a bachelor of science degree in horticulture with a landscape contracting option. Since then, Overby has worked as a horticulturist assistant at Longwood University, as well as a landscape designer and horticulturist at multiple nurseries including Watkins Nurseries in Midlothian, Twigs and Berries in Kenbridge and Wayside Nursery in South Hill. She recently completed her masters from Virginia Tech in plant science and pest management.
The program will be held in the conference room of the Prince Edward County Extension Office on Dominion Drive in Farmville. Participants may bring a lunch while learning how to arrange grocery-store flowers.
