Gordon Langhorne “Gordie” Davis Jr., 73, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016, at Saint Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL following a brief illness. He has gone to be with his parents, Gordon Langhorne Davis Sr. and Edna McFadden Davis Rice, and his stepfather, Charles William “Buck” Rice.

He leaves behind his wife of over 46 years, Jane (Taylor) Davis of West Palm Beach, FL; his daughter, Lori Davis of Richmond; his daughter, Kimberly (Davis) Guerzoni; son-in-law, Ricardo Guerzoni; and grandson, Philip Guerzoni of Orlando, FL; his brother, Richard B. Davis and wife, Candy Davis of Richmond; and other beloved family members from around the country.

The loves in his life were his family and being able to help anyone that needed it.  From being nearly inseparable from his wife, Jane, for over 46 years, to making long trips after work just to see daughters at summer camp.  He loved making them all laugh by cracking jokes, blessing them with varied nicknames, and chasing them around with his trusty Super Soaker.  He would find someone that needed help and would do what it took, even if it meant driving 40 miles out of his way after a fishing trip to bring his catch to an elderly lady that had nothing to eat.  He always would wonder how people were, even if he hadn’t seen them in years.

His passions in life were the Miami Heat basketball team and helping animals.  He was always calling his wife and daughters having them look up who was being traded, what records were, and any other information he wanted.  He was known to take in all kinds of animals, but especially loved his cats – in particular, his black cat, Shaft.  His flock of ducks outside of his house in FL would greet him whenever he came home and would sit near him whenever he was outside.

A graveside funeral service will held on Saturday, September 10 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Alma, GA.

Flowers may be sent to Crosby Funeral Home, 207 W. 12th Street, Alma, GA 31510 but please consider a donation to either the SPCA or the American Lung Association.  Also, it would make him happy if we all would find someone in need and do something to help them.

Puckett Funeral Home, Farmville, is serving the family locally.  www.puckettfh.com.
