Someone slashed 22 tires slashed on nine new vehicles at Haley Auto Mall on South Main Street in Farmville on July 25, causing more than $6,000 in damage.

“The problem is a lot of those were high-line vehicles, sports cars type wheels,” General Manager Chris Call said. “Some pretty expensive tires to say the least. I think it was a little over $6,000 retail damage. All brand new (tires).”

Haley is offering a reward of $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

“It looks like they just walked through and stabbed tires,” he said. “They didn’t scratch any paint or anything like that. They just stabbed tires.”

Call thinks someone came to the lot and cut the tires after 11 p.m. July 25.

“We actually had a technician here working. And one of the cars he was working on was one of the ones that was hit and he parked it back on the lot at about 11 p.m. that night,” he said.

Employees discovered the vandalism around midday July 26.

Acting Farmville Police Chief A.Q. “Andy” Ellington confirmed the incident. He said the cars were parked along the front row at the south end of the lot.

“The case remains under investigation,” he said.
