The minor league playoff races are headed down the stretch. Former Longwood baseball stars Aaron Myers of the Helena Brewers, Mark Montgomery of the Trenton Thunder and Kyri Washington of the Greenville Drive are all on teams within four and one-half games of first place in their respective seasons with multiple weeks left in their respective regular seasons. All three players have represented the Lancers well.

Myers received his first professional advancement July 20 when he moved up from the rookie league Arizona League Brewers to the Helena Brewers of the Pioneer League. Longwood’s all-time saves leader has found a niche as a middle relief arm in the Milwaukee Brewers system and is 3-0 with a 2.22 ERA on the season in 13 outings.
