Longwood center to offer voice, instrumental classes

If you’ve ever wanted to learn to play the ukulele, you don’t have to go to Hawaii.
The Longwood Center for Community Music can help. A ukulele class is among the piano, voice and instrumental classes, as well as private lessons, to be offered this fall by the center, an outreach program of Longwood University’s music department. Instruction is available for beginners of all ages as well as musicians at intermediate and advanced levels.
Anyone interested can contact Kristen Topham (434) 395-2503 or tophamk@longwood.edu for details. The center, directed by Topham, was launched in the spring with just piano classes.
This fall’s offerings also will include a music theater workshop, which will improve singing and stage presence for performers in musicals; a guitar class; private clarinet lessons; and a string ensemble.
Most fall classes will begin the week of Aug. 22 and meet once a week throughout the fall semester.
