John Allen Mitchell, 64, of Arvonia, died August 13, 2016.  He was the born May 10, 1952, in Richmond, a son of the late Harold Frances and Lillian Belle Toney Mitchell.  He was a retired Superintendent for the Virginia Department of Transportation. 

He is survived by his wife, Bambi Talbott Mitchell; four sons, Travis, Mason, Matt and Thomas Mitchell; sister, Gloria Stout; brother, Harold Mitchell Jr. and three grandchildren, Gwyneth, Harrison and Elizabeth. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Alice Nichols.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 16 at 11 a.m. at the Arvon Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.  The family received friends prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m.
