Each Sunday during the month of August, family-friendly, free admission programs will take place inside the Sailor’s Creek Battlefield Visitor Center as part of its annual “Ice Cream Sundays” lecture series. On Sunday, at 2 p.m., the featured topic will focus on Gen. Philip H. Sheridan. The staff will illustrate the many contentious disagreements, political wrangling and heated arguments pervading the long military career of the infamous general. As with each Ice Cream Sunday lecture throughout the month, a donation of $2 to the “Friends of Sailor’s Creek Battlefield” volunteer support group allows guests to indulge in all-you-can-eat ice cream sundaes during the presentation.
