Ice Cream Sundays continue

Education Specialist Zachary Pittard will deliver a presentation at Sailor’s Creek Battlefield Historical State Park on the state of Confederate supplies during the last 16 months of the Civil War on Sunday, as part the park’s “August Ice Cream Sundays” lecture series. Misconceptions have abounded concerning the state of Confederate supplies during the Civil War. The myth of the “Ragged Rebel” will be discussed in detail and will debunk a majority of these misconceptions. The lecture, to be held in the Battlefield Visitor Center at 2 p.m., is a free admission, family-friendly event. However, for a $2 donation to the volunteer-based Friends of Sailor’s Creek Battlefield support group, program participants may also indulge in all-you-can-eat ice cream sundaes during the presentation. Contact the park’s visitor center at (804) 561-7510, or email sailorscreek@dcr.virginia.gov for questions about this program.
