The hotel, according to a presentation to council, will be a Tru by Hilton. The firm describes a Tru by Hilton as “a revolutionary new midscale brand from Hilton Worldwide designed to offer business and leisure travelers a simplified and spirited experience that is grounded in value.”

During Wednesday’s Farmville Town Council meeting, Town Manager Gerald Spates said the hotel developers were “going to get started right away.”

“I would think probably 12 months. I’ll find out more tomorrow,” Spates said Wednesday of the time frame for construction of the facility.

No restaurant will be included in the facility, Spates said. “It looks like it’ll be a nice addition to Farmville.”

Referencing the planned Holiday Inn Express behind the Hampton Inn off of East Third Street, Mayor David Whitus said that the projects speak “volumes about what’s going on here.”
