Historical society to hold drawing

The Prospect Historical Society will have a drawing to give away an 8×12 shed by Buggy Top Sheds in Cumberland, a $50 gas card or $25 cash. For a chance to win, get in touch with a Prospect Historical Society member or go by Merk’s Place. The drawing will take place the first Tuesday in September. Don’t miss out.

It was good to see Houston LeWarne at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church on Sunday. He was home on leave visiting family. He received a special recognition.

Phillip Kelsey, Bryson and Elle from Chesterfield visited their “Grannie,” Peggy Kelsey, and other relatives Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith and their grandchildren, Charles, Christina and Brianna and Brianna’s boyfriend, Josh, all traveled to Unionville on Sunday to visit Pat’s father, Mr. John Keaveny. They then drove to Stafford to have lunch with Jeff’s mother, Mrs. Dolores Smith.

Mrs. Betty Sumner, Mrs. Betty Meadows and Mrs. Lois Gager attended a luncheon hosted by Mrs. Pat Smith at her home on Thursday.

Mrs. Flora Bolt and Mrs. Frances Anderson attended the potluck/meeting of the Curdsville Community Center on Aug. 1. Mrs. Martha Louis was the guest speaker. She spoke on the Buckingham Historical Society, Robert E. Lee Layside Village and the House Wright Museum. This was a most interesting program.

Mrs. Frances Ollie joined Mrs. Flora Bolt at Merk’s Place for lunch on Aug. 4. They enjoy getting together to catch-up on things.

Jennifer Page Bolt, Mrs. Flora Bolt and Alexa Moser enjoyed lunch on Sunday with Mrs. Judy Bolt and son Chris.

It is always good to be able to break bread with friends and that is exactly what happened on Monday when Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton met at Merk’s for breakfast.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for: Jean P. Derrenbacker, Gail George, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church on Sunday. They welcome Terri Kidd as guest pianist. The members of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invite you to worship with them each Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday school is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Catilian Hoy will be at Davis Memorial on Sunday.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The church, 302 Industrial Park Road, is in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.

Grace Chapel, on Simpson Road at Tuggle, invites you to worship with them each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. for youth and adult Bible study. The pastor is Jeff Spenser and worship leader is Roger Mahan.
