Esquivel accepted to nursing program

Christina Esquivel, of Prospect, has been accepted into the associate degree nursing program of Southside Virginia Community College for the fall 2016 semester.

Esquivel attended Prince Edward High School and received a GED in 2008. Her parents are Jorge and Maria Solorio, of Prospect, and she has two children, Anthony, 8, and Jordan, 6.

Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to apply for the licensure examination for Registered Nursing. The program is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Nursing Education and is fully approved as an associate degree nursing school by the Virginia Board of Nursing.

The nursing program is made possible through partnerships between SVCC and VCU/Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill, Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center in Emporia, Sentara Halifax Regional Health Systems in South Boston and Centra Southside Community Hospital in Farmville as well as numerous other partners throughout the Southside area.
