Craddock Terry breakfast meeting is Saturday

Belated happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to the following: Alice Bell of New Canton, Saturday, July 30; Elizabeth Stone of Dillwyn and Eleanor Newton of New Canton, Tuesday, Aug. 2; and Gary Albecht of Arvonia, Thursday, Aug. 4.

The 2016 annual former Craddock Terry Shoe Factory breakfast meeting will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Teresa’s Place, 15055 N. James Madison Hwy., Dillwyn, next to Sprouses Corner. Prayers go out this week to all those who are sick and shut-in everywhere.

Rodney and Sandra Ownby, along with Annie May Miles, all of Dillwyn, spent Thursday, July 28, visiting the sick, having lunch and shopping.

Cedar Baptist Church, 3932 Bell Road in Dillwyn, would like to invite everyone to its homecoming on Sunday beginning with Sunday School at 10 am. A worship service will be held at 11 a.m. with lunch served immediately following the service. There wll be a song service at 1:30 p.m. featuring “Faithful Praise” of Waynesboro.

The Rev. Roger Roller, from Forest, will conduct revival services Monday-Friday. Services will begin each day at 7 p.m. with special music as follows: Monday, “Second Time Around” of Buckingham; Tuesday,  “Smokey Wilson” of Concord; Wednesday, “Saints Rest,” of Liberty Universality Lynchburg; Thursday, “Dillwyn Baptist Choir”; and Friday, “Antioch-Scottsville Praise Band.”

Barry and Linda Miles along with Hazel Short and her daughter, Ginger, and Jane Cooke, all of Cumberland; Annie May Miles and Susie Taylor, both of Dillwyn; and Patricia Woodfin, of New Canton, all attended a surprise birthday supper at Vito’s Italian Restaurant of Cumberland on Saturday, July 30 in honor of Sam Givens of Cumberland’s birthday. All enjoyed great food, fun and fellowship.

Reminder: During this extreme heat check on your neighbors and pets. It is best to do outdoor work early in the morning or late in the evening. Also drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
