The Central Piedmont Virginia Master Naturalists is sponsoring a presentation by David N. Gaines, Ph.D. on ticks and tick-borne diseases in Virginia on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the meeting room of the Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library, 1303 W. Third St., Farmville.

“Dr. Gaines will address the tick species of the greatest public health importance, the diseases they carry and how landscape changes have affected tick populations over time,” according to an event press release. ‘He will also discuss methods of tick bite prevention, how to remove attached ticks and how to identify the three most common human-biting ticks in Virginia.”

The public is invited to attend.
