FARMVILLE — A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries after a two-vehicle crash in the 1800 block of South Main Street in Farmville Saturday.

The accident, involving a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle and a 2008 Kia SUV, was reported at about 12:30 p.m., according to Farmville police.

Police say the SUV struck the motorcycle as it was traveling south.

“The motorcycle and its operator were knocked down and slid across several lanes of the roadway and the driver sustained multiple cuts and abrasions as well as a very serious injury to his leg,” police said.

The driver of the SUV was not injured. The motorcyclist was transported to Centra Southside Community Hospital “where he was immediately airlifted to MCV for further treatment. The investigation is ongoing and appropriate charges are pending in this incident,” police said.
