LU field hockey adds depth

Longwood University Head Field Hockey Coach Iain Byers recently announced the completion of a strong four-member 2016 signing class.

Briana Greene, a successful defender at Gloucester High School in Gloucester, helped the Dukes go undefeated as a senior, capturing the VHSL Group 5A state championship.
A defender from Midlothian, Amy Maier led a tight-knit defensive unit on a Trinity Episcopal School squad that won the field hockey program its first VISAA Division I state title.

On the club team at Hilliard Bradley High School, Olivia Wawrzyniak, a native of Hilliard, Ohio, played defender and guided the Lynx to its best record in program history (10-5) in her final year.

Transferring from Old Dominion University, Meschini, of Mendoza, Argentina, adds depth to this year’s incoming freshman class. As a midfielder, she helped the Marista Rugby Club First Division team in her home country achieve high finishes in various tournaments.
