Historical society meeting is Tuesday

The Farmville-Prince Edward Historical Society will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Historic Farmville Train Station, 510 W. Third St., Farmville. The topic for the program is “Thomas Jefferson and Banastre Tarleton.” The speaker will be Bill Skinner from Lynchburg. He is a docent at Poplar Forest, the summer home of Jefferson. In 1781, British Col. Banastre Taleton tried to capture Jefferson, who was then the governor of Virginia. The public is invited.
