Gene Edward Collins, 61, was born November 18, 1955 in Akron, Ohio. On July 17, 2016, after a hard fought battle with cancer, he passed away at Lynchburg General Hospital surrounded by family. He leaves behind his wife, Sarah Louise Collins, and his loving family.

Gene was a water treatment plant operator at Buckingham County. He was a loving husband and father, and was a down-to-earth friend to many. Always thinking of others, but most of all he will be remembered for the way he went through life with a smile on his face ad a great sense of humor.
