UVA Marie Rhodes Conner, 80, went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 9, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo Amos and Lillian Montgomery Rhodes.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, George V. Conner Jr.; son, George V. Conner III and his wife, Britte; daughter, Susan C. Luther and her husband, Eric; grandchildren, R. Matthew Luther, Reagan M. Conner, and Courtney M. Conner; two sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Conner faithfully served her church as secretary for 28 years until she retired in 1997. After retirement, she continued her service to the church as financial secretary until her passing. First and foremost, Uva loved her grandchildren. Her other loves included everything about Christmas, especially Santa Clauses and Snow Babies, and feeding her ever growing flock of hummingbirds. She was also an avid fan of UVA basketball.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Puckett Funeral Home.

A memorial service celebrating Uva’s life will be held on Saturday, July 30, at 2 p.m. at Farmville United Methodist Church.
