The basketball court at Buckingham County High School will be the stage for Knights and Lady Knights basketball players of this decade and the last to return to the hardwood and face off as part of an alumni basketball event on July 23.

The event, which will start at 3 p.m., is being organized by Kelly Chambers, the new head coach of the Buckingham varsity girls basketball team.

“Buckingham is a supportive community, and this event is hosted by the Lady Knights basketball team, and we’re trying to boost and raise money, and this will be a very entertaining event to watch our previous players come back together again for a night to remember,” she said.

Players from the classes of the 2000s will be pitted against players from the classes of the 2010s first in a women’s game.

“Those two decades produced a good amount of talented players,” Chambers said.

Later in the day, male players from those eras will face off.

“And that will be most likely two games, because we have right many men who signed up to play,” Chambers said. “So we’re going to have a kind of a fun game for that first game, and then that second game, of the men’s games, will be an all-star game.”

Chambers said she is still accepting basketball participants, “especially the women. We’re a little low on numbers with them.”

The break between the women’s and men’s games will feature more alumni putting on a show. There will a dance performance by the Buckingham Steppers Reunited and a musical performance by Deonte Chambers, Fly Dezzy, of the class of 2012.

“We also have some cheerleaders who are coming back from those two decades, as well, and they will be entertaining throughout the games,” Chambers said.

The event will also include a dunk contest, a three-point contest and a half-court shot contest.

The concession stand will be open.

The price of admission for spectators ages 12 and older will be $5.
