Summer Reading 2016 will has begun at Cumberland County Public Library and will continue through July 18.

Each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday the library will have an event geared to be fun for the whole family.

The program will wrap up with a party on Saturday, July 23 at 11 a.m. This year’s theme is “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!,” with emphasis on young people’s passion for play and movement.

Each Monday will be filled with fun activities and special guests, including Magic Mickey the magician, extreme sports athletes and trainers and furry Hollywood actors.

The fun continues on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. with Helping Hands in the Garden. Parents and children will learn about flowers and harvest their own vegetables. On Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-noon, stop in for Mother Goose on The Loose and Story Time with Ellie Mae. There will be fun with the little ones sharing songs, stories, nursery rhymes, movement activities and crafts.

The Cumberland County Public Library Summer Reading Program is for the whole family with weekly incentives and prizes for kids, teens and adults. The more one reads, the more chances there are to win.

All entries into the weekly drawings will be combined for the grand prize drawings at the finale party on Saturday, July 23 at 11 a.m. Program prizes range from free food from restaurants to tickets for movies, bowling, baseball, the symphony and much more. The Cumberland County Public Library Summer Reading Program is made possible by generous donations from individuals and businesses in Cumberland County and Farmville.
