Friends to celebrate 95th birthday of Grace Ownby

Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to Peggy Johnson, of Buckingham, Grace Ownby, of Farmville, and Darlene Christian, of New Canton, all having birthdays on Friday; Dale Midkiff and Frances Smith, both of Dillwyn, on Wednesday.

Family and friends will gather at the home of Grace Ownby and Walter Stimpson from 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Sunday in honor of Grace’s 95th birthday.

We all want to wish Grace many more birthdays as she is a very sweet Christian lady and lives as a Christian. God bless you Grace from all your family and friends.

Happy anniversary wishes go out this week to John and Cathy Trammel, of Farmville, Sunday. We would also like to send wishes to Garfield and Stella Bryant, of Cumberland, who will be celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary on Sunday, June 26.

Cedar Baptist Church, located at 3932 Bell Road, in Dillwyn, invites everyone to Vacation Bible School beginning Sunday, June 30, from 6-9 p.m. each night for ages 2 through high school. There will also be an adult class from 7-8 p.m.

Family and friends met at the home of T.J. and Stephanie Waycaster and family of Powhatan in honor of Father’s Day last Sunday. A nice time was had by all.

Maranatha Baptist Church, located at 2204 Tuggle Road, Farmville, will host its annual homecoming service on Sunday, June 26.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. with southern gospel music at its best from Chapel Valley recording artist The Finney’s, from Chesterfield. Morning worship will be at 11 a.m. with speaker Ray Lyons, of Bedford. Following the morning worship will be lunch in the church fellowship hall.

Pastor Steve Conwell and the entire congregation invites all to attend.

Last Saturday, Rodney and Sandra Ownby and Annie May Miles, of Dillwyn, Rene and Casey Marion, and Debbie Bryley, all of Cumberland, and T.J. and Stephanie Waycaster and family, of Powhatan, all attended a recital at Powhatan High School. Everyone enjoyed it very much.

Our thoughts and prayers go out this week to all whom we know in our community that are having health problems.
