The Judith Randolph-Longwood Chapter NSDAR has announced the 2016 recipient of the Virginia Daughters of the American Revolution’s Nursing Scholarship.

Danielle Dowdy, from Cumberland County High School, has been chosen to receive the second place $1,500 award.

Dowdy is the daughter of John Dowdy and Kelly Stevens and plans to attend Averett University.

To be eligible for this award, the applicant must be a student in a senior class of an accredited Virginia high school or home school program, they must plan to continue his or her education at an accredited Virginia school of nursing, and they must submit a letter of not more than 500 words describing career objectives and reasons for their interest in nursing.
