FARMVILLE — The Crossroads Community Services Board is set to hire a consultant to assist with personnel.

Amelia County Supervisor Ralph Whitaker Jr., who serves on the board and on its personnel committee, reported during the board’s Tuesday meeting that the committee was “looking to get a consultant to help us, in part, because the personnel policy probably could be strengthened. And, so by getting a consultant, we believe that … we may be able to do some other things as well.”

The board accepted Whitaker’s report. Board Chairman Sidney Smyth called the hiring of a consultant “an excellent idea.”

Crossroads, along with Smyth and Executive Director Dr. Susan Baker and the agency’s member counties, are being sued by four former employees of the agency who allege they were wrongfully terminated.
