APPOMATTOX — A Bedford County man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Appomattox on Sunday. Virginia State Police say that Michael W. Leftwich, 29, was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. “The crash occurred June 19 … at 10:57 a.m., on Route 460, less than a mile east of Route 633,” said Corinne Geller, state police spokeswoman.

She said a 1996 Cadillac Deville was eastbound on Route 460 when it ran off the right side of the road, went down an embankment and struck a tree.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
