Vera Coberly Wood, 101, of Hampden-Sydney, passed away May 15, 2016 at the The Woodland in Farmville.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Jennings Wood.

Mrs. Wood was born in Elkins, West Virginia, the daughter of Lula Mae Lemley and Howard Coberly.  She subsequently lived in Clarksburg, WVA, Washington, DC, Alexandria, and Westport, CT. She was an active member of Fairlington Methodist Church, President of the Annandale Women’s Club, Girl Scout leader, and accomplished artist.

Survivors include daughters, Sandy Heinemann (Ronald) of Hampden-Sydney and Leslie Gallant (Edwin) of Westport, CT; son, Gary A. Wood (Ann Tucker) of Burgess; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be at a future date at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, MD.
