Hampden-Sydney’s lacrosse team shook off a one-and-a-half-hour weather delay and a rusty first quarter to defeat visiting Guilford College 12-9 in Tuesday’s ODAC Tournament quarterfinals.

The Tigers tied a single-season record for wins with 13.

Jake Koferl (Huntersville, N.C./Lake Norman) led the way offensively for H-SC with five points on three goals and two assists. Hunter Brown (Charlottesville/Albemarle) scored twice and helped on two others. Chandler Shaheen (Richmond/St. Christopher’s) and Duncan Morris (Charlottesville/Christchurch) each contributed two goals and Connor Pool (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) posted a goal and an assist.

Hampden-Sydney (13-5) travels to Roanoke College this weekend for the remainder of the ODAC Tournament. The Tigers battle Washington and Lee at 3 p.m. Saturday in the semifinals.
