Mayfest is Saturday
Published 5:20 am Thursday, May 12, 2016
During the upcoming Mayfest at the Historic Village on Saturday, the Buckingham-Dillwyn Garden Club will hold a plant sale with an assortment of irises, tree seedlings and a variety of flowering plants.
Moreover, heirloom day lilies from Monticello will be available for $3 per pot. Only plants are sold that are known to grow well in this area. Some free seeds will also be given away. All profits made from the sale go to county organizations such as the 4-H Club, Habitat for Humanity and other worthy organizations.
The theme for the May 21 Cruise In is “Gone but not forgotten.” This is meant to allow for the display of vehicles no longer in production. All monthly shows are held from 5-8:30 p.m. at Teresa’s Place, 15055 N. James Madison Highway, Dillwyn. Please note that these events are cruise ins, not car shows. There is a small token of appreciation for the best themed vehicle of the evening. All trailers must be parked at Anderson Tire Company. All vehicles are welcome at all cruise ins. Teresa’s provides fried chicken and fish ready at the buffet.
Mark your calendar: The June 18 Cruise In will be a Ford versus Chevy event, perhaps a first for this area. For more information contact Wayne Bryant at (434) 547-5568, email papasmurff01@gmail.com or Travis Toney at (434) 996-0941.
