The event will feature food, exhibits, a Maypole, a climbing wall, buggy rides, ice cream, a blacksmith exhibit, car show, a kid’s area and much more. Live music will be provided by the Cabin Creek Bluegrass Band on the village stage, according to Martha Louis, president of Historic Buckingham, which organizes the annual event.

“We’ll have barbeque, Vidalia onion rings, cotton candy and ice cream and baked goods,” she said. A car show is a new addition to this year’s event. “The village blacksmith will be there,” Louis said. “Plants from the Buckingham-Dillwyn Garden Club. New this year (is) the climbing wall.”

“Mayfest will be a family-friendly day. (There’s) no admission charge. Come out, have time with your family, enjoy the food (and) the different exhibits.” Arts and crafts will be part of this year’s event, she said.
