The Farmville Area Kiwanis is competing to win $25,000 in playground equipment from Landscape Structures Inc. for the Grove Street Park Playground.

Community members can help the organization’s dream become reality by voting for the project.

Currently the submission is in 19th place, with approximately 792 votes, said Suzanne Moore, a Farmville Area Kiwanis member.

According to Moore, less than 200 votes separate the project from the ninth-place submission, which has a little over 900 votes.

A committee will determine the winning park from the top 10 submissions. According to Moore, the park with the most votes isn’t necessarily going to be the winner.

“We recognize the power of collaborating to make meaningful progress. Our club is raising community awareness of the revitalization project by connecting community government, organizations, civic groups, businesses and individuals. Together, we have a greater impact through organized and focused efforts on the goal of improving the health of our children and our community,” stated the Farmville Area Kiwanis submission page.

Funding would help support the Grove Street Park Revitalization Project, which is working to keep one of the town’s oldest parks up and running for a diverse group of children in the area. Currently, the project has about $5,000; winning the contest would have a profound impact on the project.
