U.S. Rep. Robert Hurt (R-Virginia) recently received the 31st annual Outstanding Legislator Award from the the Virginia Council of Chapter’s (VCOC) Military Officers Association of America (MOAA).

“I believe that we must do everything we can to support our troops, their families, and our veterans who have given so much to preserve our freedom and liberty both at home and abroad,” he said.

“I am reminded of the importance of this every time I meet with those who are serving or have served our nation. With each meeting, I continue to be inspired by the stories of selfless service and courage of our military.”

“The House of Representatives has passed several bipartisan pieces of legislation to help ensure that our veterans, troops, and their families receive the benefits and protection they deserve, and I remain committed to ensuring our servicemen and women and our veterans receive the care they deserve,” said Hurt.

“I am honored and humbled to receive this recognition, and I look forward to continuing to do everything within my power to support our military service members, past and present.”

The 31st Annual VCOC-MOAA Congressional Luncheon is an event where members express their gratitude and concerns for what Congress has done each year in support of our active forces, reserves, retired, veterans and families in the FY 2016 National Defense Authorization Act.
