Graduates are congratulated; new neighbors welcomed

Congratulations to all those graduating from high schools and colleges this year. We wish you good fortune in all of your endeavors. Your families, neighbors and friends are very proud of each of you. 

On Saturday there will be a chicken dinner at Prospect Fire Department sponsored by the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. This will take place from 5-7 p.m. Come out and support this worthwhile cause.

The Tuggle community welcomes Tucker and Becky Carwile to the area. They have just moved into their new home on the Old Oak Lane off of the Hardtimes Road. They come to us from the Hampton Roads area.

The ladies of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect were honored on Mother’s Day by John Marsden as he presented each lady with a red rose.

Mrs. Shirley Fulcher had a wonderful Mother’s Day, each of her children took her out to eat at a different time.

On Saturday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith attended the dinner held at the Appomattox PE Presbyterian Church celebrating Debra Sue Shumaker’s graduation from Longwood University.

Monday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith hosted the monthly small group covered dish from Faith Bible Fellowship. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Richard McClintock and Mr. and Mrs. John Utzinger.

Mrs. Rita Utzinger and Mrs. Pat Smith met for breakfast at Merk’s Place Tuesday morning.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Meadows attended a get together at the home of their daughter, Julie, and son-in-law, Andy, in Richmond last weekend. Their grandson, Zack, was leaving for military training and family and friends were there to wish him well.

Mrs. Flora Bolt, along with most of the Bolt family, got together for lunch on May 15 at the LaParota Grill to help celebrate three young ladies birthday this month, Haley Murdock, Paydon Murdock and Michela Atkinson. There were about 15 present for the celebration.

Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the May meeting of the Farmville 45 Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy on May 11 at the Farmville Prince Edward Community Library.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for: Gail George, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian church on Sunday.

The members of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invite you to worship with them each Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with Worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Caitilin Hoy will be with them the month of May.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The church is located at 302 Industrial Park Road, in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.
