Here is some timely information concerning upcoming elections in Buckingham County. There will not be a June primary in Buckingham since both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party are selecting their candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in a convention. The next election in Buckingham County will be the Presidential Election on Tuesday, Nov. 8. In addition to the offices of U.S. president and vice-president, Buckingham voters will be voting on a candidate to represent us as our Fifth District Congressman in the U.S. House of Representatives. Robert Hurt, the incumbent congressman from our district, has announced he will not be seeking re-election. Also on the ballot in November will be two proposed amendments to the Virginia Constitution.

Two local races will also be on the ballot in November: voters in District 4, Maysville Precinct, will be electing a school board member, and voters in the Town of Dillwyn will be electing a town council member. If you have any questions about elections, how to register to vote, your eligibility or where to vote, please contact the registrar’s office at (434) 969-4304.
