FARMVILLE — The Farmville Jaycees’ initial 2016 installment of the First Friday Series has been cancelled due to inclement weather.

The organization’s signature event was set to be held at the Farmville Community Marketplace at 213 North St. in downtown Farmville at 5:30 p.m.

“After thoughtful consideration the Farmville Jaycees (has) decided to cancel the May 6 First Fridays event,” said Jaycees President Jeffrey Gore. “With the impending rain forecasted into the late evening, we do not foresee being able to safely execute First Fridays and it is best for all parties involved if we cancel the event. We look forward to our June 3 event and our appreciative of the support provided by our sponsors and members of the local community.”

The Brian Graham Band will perform next month at Riverside Park. The lead sponsor for the installment is Alcova Mortgage.

The event is set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
