Ella Turner Rush

Ella Turner Rush died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.  She was born in Nelson County, a place she loved and was proud to call home.  Ella was the widow of James Anthony Rush.

She retired as an E911 dispatcher for Buckingham County. Her work history also included Uniroyal and Dillwyn Elementary School.  She loved gardening and flowers but her family was her greatest love. She will be dearly missed by them.

Mrs. Rush is survived by her daughter, Kathy R. Dowdy and her husband, Keith of Scottsville; a granddaughter, Victoria L. Terrell and her husband, Levi of Scottsville; a brother, Russell H. Turner and his wife, Laura of Maryland; sister-in-law, Frankie Turner of Scottsville and a great-grandson, Zechariah Terrell. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Stella Turner, a brother, Martin Turner and a sister, Margaret Baber.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Heritage Inn and Legacy Hospice for the loving care shown to Ella during her stay there.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 6 at 1 p.m. in the Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, 1620 Sharon Church Road, Scottsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Buckingham Volunteer Rescue Squad.
