Annual garden club banquet held

The Redbud Garden Club held its 53rd Annual Banquet at the home of Geraldine and Billy Sanderson on April 26.
Guests were Carsten Maagdelijn, Sandra Wilkerson, Susan Oertel and Charity Yoder.
Members were recognized for their achievements during the past club year. For overall points in the Horticulture category, Audrey Robinson was third, Rebecca Giles, second and Janet Higgins received first place along with a plant and a $20 gift certificate.
For overall points in the arrangement category, Liz Dunn and Sarah Schember were tied for third, Janet Higgins, second, and Ann Ligon received first place along with a plant and a $20 gift certificate. For overall points for community service, Dottie Fahrner was third, Ann Ligon, second, and Geraldine Sanderson received first place along with a check for $10 from Benchmark Community Bank, sponsor of the award.

Geraldine Sanderson presented Gail Thompson with the 2016 Member of the Year Award. Not often given, the Member of the Year Award recognizes the many contributions to the club of long time members.
