A ‘courageous’ stand for free speech

Editor:

Thank you, Steve Stewart, for your comments in The Herald about the behavior of District Two Supervisor and Board Chairman Lloyd Banks (“Banks should apologize,” Wednesday, May 11). After writing my guest column (“Cumberland’s death of democracy,” Friday, May 6), I thought everyone would forget about it and move on. Apparently not only you but also many citizens in the county are still very upset, as am I.

You were courageous to take a stand on behalf of free speech. I deeply appreciate your efforts. I plan to keep being an advocate for the schools, a grocery store and, more importantly, free speech.
