For about seven years now, Robert “Gravy” Saunders Jr., of Farmville, has participated in the Polar Plunge in Virginia Beach, venturing into the cold waters in February to raise money for Special Olympics. This year, he raised about $2,140 for the cause. Saunders, who works at the Buckingham Correctional Center, participates in helping the special-needs population during the Special Olympic Games in Richmond annually. Saunders thanks his family, friends and supporters for their encouragement in his efforts to help those with special needs. We commend him for his dedication toward helping our community.
