Roanoke holds off H-SC lacrosse 9-8

The No. 19 Roanoke lacrosse team held off a late Hampden-Sydney rally to win 9-8 on Saturday afternoon.
Hampden-Sydney struck first as Hunter Brown (Charlottesville/Albemarle) finished off a feed from Jake Koferl (Huntersville, N.C./Lake Norman) at the 8:07 mark of the first quarter.
The lead didn’t last long as just 15 seconds later, Roanoke found themselves up 2-1 after Cameron Linsley won and scored off back-to-back face-offs.
Roanoke would lead until the end.
Ian Levin (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) tallied two goals and one assist. Koferl handed out two assists while scoring once.
Chandler Shaheen (Richmond/St. Christopher’s) found the back of the net twice. Connor Pool (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) and Brown each contributed a goal and an assist. Mitch Renfrow (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Day) made 13 saves.
Hampden-Sydney will travel to Randolph College on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game.
