Guthrie Memorial Chapel (GMC) is taking the plan of salvation through Christ to the “bush” in Uganda, Africa. Ugandan Pastor Mutebi Dickson, assistant to Dr. Fillmer Hevener, who is pastor and founder of GMC, has a two-hour weekly radio program in eastern Uganda and plans to plant a new church there soon. Dickson takes a generator with him for lighting and speaker system. He also distributes Bibles and Christian literature in the local language. He must build his own stage from poles and use makeshift steps to reach it. Hevener and his wife, Celia, were missionaries to Uganda in the mid-1950s.
